I have just got some info back from Tomtom support.

They say that my device has the profile (A2DP) Advanced Audio Distribution Profile.
Other profiles mentioned are:- DUN,HFP,HSP,OBEX

The Tomtom Go 720 asks if I want to connect to the stereo headset then when I tap yes it say it can't find it.
Tomtom doesn't give any other details and no other Bluetooths are switched on at the time so it can't be confused with any other item.
