Hello,

i have just purchased a USB 3.0 Dual 2,5" SATA Mobile RAID and so far it really works fine.
The problem is that i can't send the hdds to standby mode. They are always spinning, that's not ideal for a long lifetime as you know.

I use a Debian System and have tested the hdparm, sdparm. no success right now.
hdparm -S 10 /dev/sda1
sdparm --command=stop /dev/sda1

hdparm shows that the drives are in standby mode but the are spinning.

I use the raid system in a storage in combination with a raspberry pi.

Do i have to send a special command to the hardware raid controller JMicron? Seems that none of the standard tools ar working right out of the box.

edit:
It seems that using hdparm -y /dev/sda1 will send only one disk to sleep.

root@XBian:~# fdisk -l

It would be also nice to know which chipsets are built in. Is JMicron the manufacturer of the RAID chipset?

Tanks a lot, regards
Gernot
