I have a Lindy USB 3.0 Dock width HDMI & DVI (Part no.: 43180) which i purchased a couple of days ago.
When i hooked it up to my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro for the first time, everything worked without issues. I am using almost all ports; both DVI and HDMI are in use, RJ45 and 1 USB are used.
The day after i took my computer with me, and when i got back in the evening and connected the dock to my USB3 port again, nothing happend. Or, something did happen - the USB ports on the dock are still working, but the monitors and RJ45 port is not.
I tried various things; unplugging all the cables, plugging them in one at a time, uninstalling all drivers (including DisplayLink and USB hub drivers in Windows Device Manager) - nothing worked. I then tried plugging it into the USB2 port on my laptop - and then it worked! 1 display started working and the RJ45 port worked again. But only the one display is working. I am guessing because the USB2 bandwidth is not big enough for 2 monitors to be supported. The quality of the one display is also noticeable lower than with USB3 (you cannot play video fluidly on it etc.).

As mentioned i have tried almost anything i would say - so what can i do to make it work on my USB3 port?

For info, i have two other DisplayLink DL-3900 and DL-3500 devices (StarTech USB32HDDVII and StarTech USB32DPPRO) - both of these are working without a glitch from the very same USB3 port on the same laptop. So it is not the USB3 port that is faulty I would say.

Help :)

You should be able to post a link after your first post, its an anti spam feature.

USB 3 on windows 8 had problems in our first batch and required a firmware update. I could only assume this is the case here as we've not had this issue since.

Are you comfortable flashing firmware? I had a guide and it is quite straight forward.

Tried a couple of times now, but with the same outcome; it says it cannot detect any devices. See screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/QuUMaj5c

Sorry I've just seen a note on my system that is says it must be updated on windows 7. Do you have a machine with that?

Otherwise, could you try it on USB 2?

I have now tried on;
* Windows 8.1 with USB3 port
* Windows 8.1 with USB2 port
* Windows 8.1 with Windows / installed on a virtual machine (VirtualBox)
* Windows 7 with USB2 port (no USB3 ports on the machine)

All came out with the excat same error as stated above - No devices found.

So i have to find a machine with Windows 7 and a USB3 port?

When connected to the Win8 machine, under device manager - USB Display adapters - does it say Dual Head Video Dock or USB 3.0 Dual Video Dock?

There is no "USB Display adapter" option when connected with USB3: http://screencast.com/t/PE3iVzlN

I'll have to consult our factory I'm afraid.

The instructions only mention Windows 7 to update so I'll get this confirmed.

I managed to borrow a Win7 laptop with a USB3 port to try the Firmware upgrade from.
It worked in the first try and the firmware was updated.

Upon first try to connect the hub to my Win8.1 laptop after via the USB3 port it worked without a glitch. Have tried to reboot and disconnect and then reconnect the dock, and it seems to work as expected now :)

Thank you.

Hi Chris,

I e-mailed you a few minutes ago about the problems getting the Lindy 43180 USB 3 Dock working on Windows 10.

I've just seen this thread. It sounds like the OP was having identical problems to me on a Windows 8 machine.

I've downloaded the updated firmware zip - but the instructions PDF is no longer available. Could you repost it please?

Thanks,

John

Thanks - all working now :)

The problem with the old firmware on Windows 10 was essentially the same as the OP described on Windows 8.

Could you post a screenshot of the device manager?

Are you also trying to update an older device to work with windows 8?
