I just bought the external eSATA/USB RAID for two 2,5" hard drives (In lindy store: /dual-25-sata-mobile-raid/20288.html). I set it up manually to RAID 0 since I have Snow Leopard and there is no SteelVine compatible (subject of another question).
The raid works fine. My SO recognizes two 320 GB drives (seagate 7200 RPM and Toshiba 5400 RPM) as one 640 GB unit.
I can also unmount the drive with no problem from my SO.
The problem is that I would like the drives to safely stop spinning when I unmount them. I am currently just unplugging the raid enclosure from the back to cut the power (again after unmounting) but this generates an awful noise from the drives and I am afraid they will eventually brake.
Is there a way to stop the disks after unmounting and before unplugging?
Regards,
Fuzarca
How to stop the HDD's from spinning in external eSATA/USB RAID?
