I am using the above with ASUS's P5E-VM mothrboard, running Windows 7, but could not get Windows 7 to recognise the 2 HD sitting in the docking station. In fact Windows 7 only recognise 1 HD, but I thought the 51400 has port multiplier functionality . Any help appreciated.

Hello,

It should support both drives with that setup, if you install the Marvell RAID utility do you see both drives? This can be found here http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm under the title Marvell Raid Utility (MRU) Version 4.1.0.1909

The 2 drives in the docking station are recognised by the Marvell BIOS when the system boots. Both drives are listed in device manager, but only one is listed in windows explorer. When you double click on the drive listed in windows explorer, the system hangs.

Have also installed the MRU, same result as above.

Regards.

What happens if you go in to disk management?

Is this disk new or used?

The 2 drives in the docking station are new. So far, I am getting inconsistent result. One minute, I can see the 2 drives with proper drive letter, but on navigating between these 2 drives, I get 'not responding' error, and the system then hangs. On another occasion, the system can only see 1 drive in the docking station, but when try to open the drive, error 'not accessible' came up.

Regards.

Are you using the cable that came with the docking station or another?
