I have an Optoma H78 Projector which worked fine using a 15mtr Progold HDMI to DVI lead in HD from both my SKY HD Box and Panasonic Blu-ray player.

Recently the HDMI plug on one end of the cable became faulty, so I decided to change the system using good quality CAT6 cables and the Lindy 38023 Extender.

Once everything was connected, I could not get a picture at all to my Optoma H78 Projector from the SKY HD Box using this system, it just simply showed a blank screen. I then connected it to my Panasonic Blu-ray player/recorder and the projector worked but only delivering a Standard Definition resolution.

I then connected the unit to my Panasonic Full HD TV and it worked just fine and in High Definition mode too on both the SKY HD Box and Blu-ray recorder.

The H78 is a great projector but is now around 5 years old, but cannot understand why it doesnt work in High definition mode using this Lindy system, but works using an HDMI to DVi long 15mtr cable?

Please can anyone help to answer this query.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Andy,

It sounds like it could be incompatible with the 38023 system. How long is the CAT6, 15m?

It might be worth using another type of extender, our 38001 is popular.

Best Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes your right Chris, we are using 15mtr CAT 6 Shielded cables.

I just had a look at the 38001 extenders but the DVDI-D resolution falls short of the 1920 x 1080, or am I incorrect with this?

Although our current projector is not full HD, I am hoping to replace this with the latest H91 Optoma later in the year which will be full HD.

The IR capability is something we don't really need for the projector either.

I did speak with Optoma Technical people yesterday who told me it may be because of the the processing speed of the H78 projector is rather slow compared with the speed of the cable system, so maybe it is indeed getting time to upgrade to a newer model and raid my piggy bank.

Hi Andy,

It does sound plausable.

38001 can do 1920 x 1200 which is higher than 1080p. The website isn't massively clear as the 1600x1200 is the maximum in that aspect ratio.
