Hi all, hoping someone can help.

I have multiple sources into an HDMI switch (38244) and then am extracting the audio using the audio extractor 38168 sending sound over toslink to a Sonos sound bar.

When the Xbox is the selected source it doesn’t recognise the Sonos as 5.1 capable so passes stereo. When the Sky box is the selected source it does pass the audio at 5.1.

So I am thinking the issues is between the audio extractor and Xbox. My previous switch with built in audio extractio (xolorspace) did this fine so I know the Xbox is capable of passing 5.1

Any thoughts ??

Hi JonO,

That's a bit unusual, perhaps the Xbox is outputting 5.1 in a format not supported by the switch.

Are there any options in the Xbox settings to change the audio output format?

I can choose stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed to bitstream out. When I select with the bitstream or 5.1 it says the receiver is not capable. It’s very frustrating as every other audio extractor has been fine.

Hi JonO,

Does changing the EDID setting on the extractor change anything? In the user manual there should be a number of EDID settings so you could try passthrough or the preset 5.1 settings.

Hi JonO,

Sorry my mistake it's our new version that has EDID options.

These are just pass-through, so may just be limited in that set-up. Did you buy the goods directly from Lindy?

Hi JonO,

Is it doing the same on both the 5.1 and 7.1 audio settings if you change the EDID on the new extractor?

If you remove the switch from the set-up and just go from the Xbox direct to the extractor, does that work?

Hello Guy. No difference if I remove the switch.

Hi JonO,

Not really sure why it is not working in your set-up then, however it may just be some form of incompatibility.

It may be worth returning the extractor to the place of purchase, was it bought direct from Lindy?

It wasn’t bought direct from Lindy. It’s really disappointing as the cheap Chinese variations do seem to work but I was hoping to buy into a more robust solution

Hi JonO,

These generally are just plug and play, and once set up work without issue. However there are always some situation where electronics don't work correctly and we just have to put that down as a compatibility issue.

I'm afraid you would need to return the goods to the place of purchase, sorry I can't be of more help on this occasion.
