I have a Dell DIM5000 which I want to connect it to my HDTV. If I connect from the DVI output to the TV via HDMI input, will this also carry sound?
I will have a 7.5m Premium Gold cable from LINDY.
It is too far away from the PC to use the PC sound and hence I need to know if the sound will come through the TV.

Hi,

No, DVI will not pass any sound over to HDMI.

Commonly the TV will have an analog input for sound using HDMI, you would need to check the manual.

Oh. So do I need a separate cable for sound then. If so what would the LINDY part number be?

Yeah a separate cable would be needed.

It really depends on what connection the Laptop and TV have. A common cable would be 3.5mm to 3.5mm

Hi, Please start a new thread for any issues.

Have you removed the dust caps from the optical cable?
