Hello
I'm using Part No. 38146 (HDMI to DisplayPort 4K adapter) to connect a Dell PC with HDMI output to a Dell monitor with mDP input. Occasionally it works perfectly, but most of the time I get no signal to the monitor at all.
Here's what I have:
[Dell PC HDMI] - [HDMI cable] - [HDMI power injector 41080] - [HDMI to DP 38146] - [DP to mDP cable] - [Dell monitor]
That looks more convoluted than it is! :-)
All the cables are new and work independently. I've tested the output from the PC with an HDMI TV, and the input to the monitor with a mDP cable from a MacBook Pro. Everything works fine when isolated - but together I've only seen it working twice.
For example, when it was working I was able to use the PC to run some Windows updates. After the update, the PC rebooted and I never got the signal back.
Any idea what's going on here?

The adapter would normally take power from the DP port not the HDMI. It may therefore, in spite of the injector being used, be a power issue.

If the max resolution is OK then yes I would think that this is a better alternative. Power is on the HDMI side
